A few words about our Friend Jim, on Behalf of the Past, Current and Emerging Queensland Remote Aboriginal Media/ Black Star Communities, the Board members, Directors and Management Staff of what we describe as our Family.

Who doesn’t know this, giant of a man, with the infectious smile and always has the time to say G’day mate, how you going.

I have been able to witness a number of keys factors within my young years, within various Industries and sectors.

In this case I reflect on personal and professional journey from within the 1ST Nations History and relate this theme to the WORD Communications.

Communications within all its forms contribute to the Natural evolution of humanity, regardless of what part of the World you derive from.

Every person’s life has a meaning and a purpose, hence the culmination of this theme (Communication) and Jim.

 Mr. James Remedio , affectionately known as “Big Jim” is part of this theme (Communication)

The Recent CBAA Community Broadcasting Australia Association 2022 Conference rewarded Jim as a true Pioneer and Ambassador of Aboriginal Radio and Media for more than 35 years stewardship.

Jim came to the Podium with a standing ovation by almost 400 Radio/ Media Industry Community Radio sector CBAA Conference Gala Dinner.

Jim’s passion, commitment and dedication from the grass roots to Regional and National levels of moving and shaking, advocacy on behalf of Aboriginal Land,  Equity and Equality Rights movements.

Jim’s vision and presence served to found major initiatives such as NIMA National Indigenous Media Association, NIRS National Indigenous Radio Service.

Jim served on numerous Boards and committees with key leadership roles in NITV National Indigenous Television and CBF Community Broadcasting Foundation.

Jim served in CEO positions with the same Vision, energy, insight and wisdom to 3KND, CAAMA AND QRAM.

To many 1st Nations people around Australia, Jim Remedio is a Legend, a True supporter for Truth Justice, Civil and Social Determination for all 1st Nation People and that of all Australian’s that seek the same Values, Ethics and Principles. Deep down just a real good bloke.

Radio and Media Platforms is the most powerful tool toward Communications and Jim’s life has served to amplify this over and beyond.

This is why Jim Remedio, you deserve this most Prestigious Australian Award” The Michael Law Award in Brilliance and Excellence” community radio.

Great Men like Jim only come along once in a life time and this is  the more reason for me and many 1st Nation People of Australia who have had the Privilege to know this great bloke either as my family, a friend , a colleague, a leader an all-rounder powerful yet Humble larger than life Man.

Well done Jim, coincidental, you working tirelessly and going into Australian History, only days away from the Nation stopping “Melbourne Cup” when you own Uncle Frank Reys made history by winning the 1973 Melbourne Cup on “Gala Supreme”

Good on to you, Uncle, Cousin, Brother, Grandfather, Senior Elder and very near and dear friend to so many people from all walks of life, all Nationalities across our Country and Homelands we share and call Australia.

Just a quick joke, you probably already put your award in a box somewhere out of sight out of mind.
