QRAM is committed to training and mentoring broadcasters in the 11 remote communities we service. QRAM’s training partner is Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE, and together we offer industry standard training leading to nationally recognised qualifications.
QRAM’s facilities in Cairns include an interative learning room, 20 computers with industry standard audio software, and 2 studios. All equipment and programs are identical to those installed in each of the 11 radio stations.
So our training is hands on and interactive, with a focus on the skills needed for the modern era of broadcasting. Our training also teaches broadcasters how to make the most of the enhancements and support provided through the Black Star network, which frees them to spend more time broadcasting local information and news and less time on repeat admin tasks.
