The Board of QRAM last week held its first ever meeting away from Cairns when they met in the Northern Peninsular Area for their regular Board Meeting. The venue was the old New Mapoon Council Building where several years ago negotiations started between QRAM and the then five councils that made up the NPA area as they examined the possibilities for a combined radio service in that area. This resulted in the NPA radio service that operates in that region today – a success story in every way.
High on the agenda was a discussion about the Government’s Indigenous Advancement Strategy and the new options that arise from that as they plan future directions for QRAM and the Black Star Network. Recent QRAM General Manager Mr. Jim Remedio was appointed to the QRAM Board at the meeting. His extensive industry experience and knowledge is welcomed as he takes on the new role as Director of the Association. Welcome back Jim!
