Stephen Jones could have stayed down south and made the announcement, but to our surprise he chose to make the announcement of a commitment of $7-Million into Indigenous communications strategy.
Two million dollars would go to remote Indigenous broadcasting services and five million dollars to improve broadband services.
The funds would be would be in the form of direct grants to organisations. This is good news for media organisations and will cut out a unnecessary additional bureaucracy of having to go through a third party.

Elida Faith, Labor candidate for the Federal seat of Leichardt joined Stephen Jones this morning to make some special announcements for the people of Cape York. Labour will build four splash parks for people of all ages to relax and cool off on those hot days and not have to keep a lookout for crocs! This initiative will go down well in the communities.
